    2010 F10 - Gearbox Failure At 36K

    Very sad that my beemer couldn't slot into to reverse on Wednesday (manual gearbox). Disappointed when the BMW franchised garage confirmed there was a problem and they said the gearbox should be replaced. Shocked that said it would cost £3,600!!!!! The garage did say they would ask HQ to contribute to the costs on the basis that it had a full BMW service history, was only 4 years old and had covered 36k miles. Very disappointed that HQ said they wouldnt contribute as i didn't buy the car from a BMW dealership! Have complained directly with BMW customer services but I don't hold my hopes for that one. So looks like I'll be searching out an independant garage to help me out. Anyone else have experience of this happening to such a young car? I live in Dunfermline Fife up in Scotland - can anyone recommend an independant garage who could handle a gearbox swap? Thanks Gordon
