My Local BMW Dealer has a very poor spare parts department. They know little about the cars they are selling parts for (and mine is only a 2003 - so not that old). They scan for spare parts on realoem.com and have no other way of finding parts. They cannot provide electrical wiring information. Went in today to pick up some small bits I had ordered (after they texted me to say they were ready). Sat at the parts desk after they told me someone would be with me shortly. After 15 minute wait I left. I will call tomorrow to make an appointment next time !

Only ever go in there now to get parts i cant get elsewhere..... either do bits myself or have a mate who is a good mechanic, who can stamp the book..... but when i had a new BMW would only use BM then.... but have been attempted ripped off by them, but luckily know a lil bit about cars so stopped them in there tracks......... but at least bmw have the courtesy to grease you up before penetration....

Local stealers are thieves and vagabonds.

I bought the car from an independant specialist in Farnham, when it next needs a service I will get the codes read by local mobile chappie, do the work myself so I know its done properly, i'll sign the service manual as an "owner service" then get the local van man to counter stamp all my invoices and reset the ecu.

Only had my 1 series for just over a week so I've not had a lot of experience with BMW other than the salesman who was friendly (aren't they all when they're trying to sell a car). it'll be interesting to see how they treat me when I next go in now they have my money already.
