Hello to all...

I'm getting my first BMW in the morning.. my first car at 19yrs was a Peugeot 205gti 1.9L she was a proper drive, but since having my pug ive always had a work van and never really needed my own wheels, just used the wifes family car.. but now at 44yrs I finally get to choose my ride, so having looked at all makes and models with a touch of sensible and still wanting a thrill I stumbled upon a.... 

2010, 1 series 2.0 118d M Sport .. mint condition and very low mileage for under 4k 

I like the look and it drives fantastic, not quite the terror of my pug but after some mods and tuning my 1st BMW will keep me happy..

Hopefully I will find some good advice and guidance on here so thanks and all the best..

Keep it well serviced, my personal preference is for oil and filter changes every 5k as an old engineer I don't believe that extended service intervals help engines even with modern synthetic oils, My brother inlaw has a 530d touring (his 3rd) he commutes into Europe for work we carry out interim oil changes and the car is BMW dealer serviced for all other needs the current car is approaching 250k. All 3 have had the same treatment and have reached the starship mileages.Don't forget the gearbox and diff oils when servicing.

A good ECU tune should see around 180hp which will make your 1 series very lively indeed, it goes with out saying Brakes, Suspension and Tyres need to be in tip top condition with any tuning upgrades

My first car was a pug 309gti which I turbo’d and heavily modified. Awesome bit of kit... after that I just had BMW’s (and lots of company cars) 

get ready for a bit of handling differences if you boot it, no torque steer in the rwd cars 😜
 

The 1 series will keep a smile on your face
