x5 e53 electrical problem

New poster here, My 2006 bmw e53 x5 is having major electrical issues my windscreen wipers keep getting stuck or not running properly as soon as I start to drive I tried to have the battery changed but they advised me not to waste my money as the battery is only a year old I have no idea what it is going on. My seat belt sensor keep going off even with all passengers being buckled in any help would be greatly appreciated

What sort of loony thinks that because a battery is a year old it's OK !!! Even new batteries can fail that is a simple fact. If you are not capable of checking it your self get help.

First thing to check, is the Battery correct for your car it should be 90ah 720a

Next check the Voltage at the charging points under the bonnet it should be 12.5v to 12.8v engine off anything below 12.0 would indicate a flat or dying battery Now with the engine running test the voltage again, you should see around 14.5 to 14.8 volts this would be from a healthy alternator

Last thing to check are the earth points and engine earth straps 

If your issues remain and all other items above are OK then you need a Diagnostic scan which will help identify the cause
