Hi Terry,

To help the boffins out ....what engine petrol/diesel do you have??? Do you have actual codes?? It looks like you wrote this at 200mph so take a deep breath & start again lol. Im sure some one on here can point you in the right direction.

Sorry I brought the car 2 weeks ago a bmw 1 series petrol supposed to be 2.0 l the bloke said he had changed the ecu as the last one went faulty.
anyway since then on the way home from buying this car I noticed that everytime the car went up to 3000rpm it would drop and have lack of power so I got the car home and had a diagnostics test done on it the next morning which I have a copy of here which I will post but since then I went and had another mot done on it it had a sensor out on one of the wheels which solved the lights I had up but after getting it through the mot on my way home the car just suddenly just stopped and it wouldn’t start it would turn over but not start.

i then got the car home by being towed I then had another test done and it was saying that a nox sensor so I have changed that and still wouldn’t start after another test it has now came up with dme master relay so I’ve changed a relay next to the ecu and it’s still not starting so I don’t know now I’m at my wits end with this !Removed! car

Have you tested the fuel pump? Mine just stopped for no reason.
turn the key to position 1 and you should hear it start to spin.
It is located under the rear seat.

I cracked the fuel line and petrol was coming out so yes I guess it is working and I can hear it also

Morning Terry

I had a failure with the ECU (DME) in my X5 4.6 corrosion to one of the pins were the main plug connects it couldn't be repaired. I found a "new" used replacement from a BMW specialist breaker. I still had all sorts of issues even though the DME was from an identical model and year with the same part number. Eventually after talking to a BMW specialist I brought the immobilizer key drivers door lock and ignition barrel from the donor car and hey presto no problems. I dont know if that is your issue as there are many other things to check such as, DME relay, DME fuses to make sure they are good corrosion is not uncommon with electrical contacts.

Right, so you have fuel and cranking. So the issue must be spark.

you say the dme  is showing an issue.
has the immobiliser been activated?
can you lock and unlock the door with the key fob?
