Hi Everyone,

Im having issues where my RPM fluctuates and has engine warning sign on. Car will move just a bit then engine will stop by itself. Not sure how to even get this to a repair. What is likely the cause of this?

Any help will be appreciated

Morning Seungwook

We have to assume the oil and coolant levels are OK? , when was the car last serviced? Are there any other noises knocks or rattles?

You need the codes read by a garage or someone with Autologic or BMW software to give a better diagnosis. Your issue could be MAF failure, Throttle Body failure, Fuel delivery, the list goes on and if you try and cure it by changing parts it could be expensive. Better to spend a little on diagnostics and be sure that if you chage a part it fixes the problem.

Hi Dave,

Thank you for your reply. The oil and coolant levels are OK. I had the car serviced about 6 months ago, However did not use the car for about 2months until today as I have been out on vacation.

The problem is that the car will no longer start and I believe I will need to get it towed to a repair shop. I'm afraid that the cost of repair might be too high...

I guess I will need to get proper diagnostics

Hi ... welcome to the Forum

Sounds like a vacuum hose leak to me....that would explain the hunting revs.

Check for any hissing under the bonnet and you could use a smoke generator or a solvent to diagnose where the leak is.

Let us know how you get on with it

Cheers,  Trevor
