E61 central locking problem after flat battery

Hi,I purchased a 2004  E61  530 d se touring two months ago and the battery went flat through lack of use.I opened the drivers door with the key as the remote did nothing which was presumably down to the low voltage.I pulled the bonnet and used jump leads to bump it off another vehicle. The battery is a recent replacement so I took it off to charge it.On refitting the charged battery the central locking does not work with the key or remote, only with the button on the dash.I have taken the car for a short drive and used the spare key but still no joy with the key in the drivers door or remote. All was fine before the battery lost charge. Can anyone help as most of the posts on the internet seem to work with the key but not remote. Thanks for your help.

Regards Nigel

Morning Nigel

Have you tried resetting the Keys ? there is a process for that have a search online for the method. The other common issue with the 5 series was the Diversity antenna it is in the spoiler above the brake light they were a known issue ( my brother inlaw has changed 2) they were prone to moisture/water ingress problems. Again search diversity antenna issues for 5 series.

Good Luck

Dave

No not tried resetting them yet but I printed off some info about doing it last night. The central locking doesn't work by turning the key in the drivers door either ?.Thanks Nigel.

Morning Nigel

Does the drivers door lock with the key? My brother inlaw has had this happen twice, first time BMW changed the diversity antenna, all was good for a couple of years then it happened again this time he found a BMW Specialist who took the antenna apart cleaned and dried it out tested it all good he then re-assembled it with sealant and so far 3 years and no issue. His car would aloow the drivers door to be locked with the key but wouldn't set the alarm or activate the central locking.

Have a look at www.newtis.info it's a BMW technical information site same as used by dealers to see if there is any help there
