Z3 Coupe a few issues

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I live in Oman and have just purchased one of seven 2.8  Coupes in the country, however, being out of Europe, parts and specialists are hard to find, so hopefully you guys will be able to point me in the right direction. I have a few issues such as.

1: Noisy rear diff, are there re-build kits available?

2: Intermittent bad vibration from 100kph up, not all the time and nothing seems to trigger it.

3: Wooly suspension, just doesn't seem as tight as it should.

4: I'm back in the UK next month and am looking for parts, is there anyone who specialises in these cars?

What would be a rough value, I'm thinking of bringing it back when I leave here, 1998 2.8 Coupe in silver, 80,000 miles.

Many thanks for any help in advance.

Hi Will....welcome to the Club

I would definitely bring it back when you return as it sounds like a superb car....2.8 and coupe!

1. my Z3 diff has always sounded a bit whiny but has always done that....you could rebuild it with new bearings, etc.

2. Sounds like a dynamic wheel imbalance....get the wheels balanced at any tyre bay.

3. Springs and Dampers are very cheap through GSF or Eurocarparts....would also recommend new suspension bushes as well.

4. GSF are pretty good at supplying quality parts at cheap prices (look out for regular discount codes online)

Keep us updated on how its progressing and would love to see a photo or two

Cheers,   Trevor

Hi Trevor

Thank you for your reply.

Are they rare back in the UK, if its worth it, I'll look into shipping it back to sell, being out here, there is no rust at all, two European owners since new I believe.
