First and foremost something with a lot of life left in it (used to getting 200,000+ miles from my Volvo diesels) and apart from regular servicing easy on wear and tear. I have seen a lot of reports of bad engines (timing chain, turbo other issues) I would also like something with a bit of space in the back but obviously the rear seats won't be occupied very often so two or four door would be OK. but comfort and and reliability are a key factor (a little get up and go would be nice too).

So over to the experts....

Looking forward to finding the right car first time , Carole 😀

Just joined

Hello everybody

At the moment I own a 220i with the M-Package. Hi all, I'm new to both the club and BMW ownership having just bought my first of the marque. Looking forward to the experience of owning such a capable car and also the benefits of being a part of an owners club where you tend to find the best in open and honest conversation about the good, the bad and the ugly of car ownership.

The car I have is a 2018 335d Touring in what Ive been reliably told is Marlborough Red. A 1 owner car from new covering just over 67k miles when I bought it only 3 weeks ago. Full BMW service history including MOT's and even wiper blade changes. I'd spent around 7 months searching for the right car so patience paid off I feel.

It was specified with most of the right factory options including digital dash, HUD, memory seats and Pro Nav. It was even de-badged, something which I didn't realise was an option?! it doesn't have adaptive dampers though which I initially thought would irritate, but I've quickly learned that the car is beautifully damped in standard form regardless.

The car isn't completely standard either with some subtle changes made to it. It has Eibach lowering springs (which is where I appreciate just how good the standard dampers are), wheel spacers, Rohana 20 inch black alloys on Michelin PS4S tyres and what I think you would call a stage 1+ ECU and gearbox remap to 404.5bhp and 746nm of torque.

The net result is something which I know all of you will already know. I get it too now. The car is just about the most complete thing I've owned and I love it. They really are as good as everyone says they are. My job involves a lot of time away travelling but knowing`I have that to arrive back to in the UK makes me very keen to get plenty of miles under my belt!

I've only taken a few photos so far but will get much better quality pictures uploaded when I can get around to taking them.

I'm looking forward to picking your much more experienced brains about the good and bad bits of ownership.

	Thanks all!

	Coxy

Good morning, been visiting as a guest on a few occasions and finally joined. My name is Stewart and based in the north east of England just south of the borders

I currently own a 73 plate 240I LCI and a also have a 68 plate 435d cabriolet (wifes car). Previous BMW's and first were a 66 plate 420d coupe followed by a 20 plate 135i both of which I no longer own. I have posted images in the members gallery for viewing.

Apart from the cars, other hobbies include Scuba diving and mountain biking but as coming up to retirement age these might be short lived.

I hope I can contribute with learnings over many years of previous car ownership as well as picking up tips from others

New to the site, recently picked up a 2004 645ci with 57k on the clock, four owners with history. Previously had a 328i a few years ago but sold that for an 2004 RX8 (which I still have as my project car).

Was officially new here back in 2018... had been active in various car forums over the years. Only briefly had a Beemer then so wasn't around much, loggeed in a couple of times.

Have tried the Facebook groups but they just don't seem the same, not the same level of interaction compared to these old bulletin board type Forums.

Anyway, am now currently sat with 3 Beemers so figured be worth logging back in here.

Have a 2015 4 series 420d Coupe Lux/Sport (Not the MSport) - which I love (dont need any comments about under-powered, it does just fine 😁)

	Also a 2016 5 series 520d Touring.

Both of these I am keeping.

My old 520d Touring, is a 2008 and is currently sitting with just under 300,000 miles on it and still going - although currently SORN and will be getting shot of it one way or another as soon as I get round to it.

Hi, new to the forum and hoping for some advice from the gurus.

I recently took my 2012 X1 25D to a local dealer to have the EGR valve recall work carried out. Got the car back and everything seemed fine but after not a lot of use (100 to 200 miles) I noticed a smell of burning oil in the cabin. This disappeared overnight and couldn't see any obvious leaks. After that there was a smell of exhaust fumes in the cabin - enough to need to have the windows open while driving. Took it back to the dealer and they are claiming it is nothing to do with the recall work they carried out, that the inlet manifold has a leak and needs replacing. The car had no issues before they worked on it, has only done 46,000 miles and has been well looked after. Seems rather unlikely that the manifold coincidently started leaking shortly after they worked on the engine. I believe the inlet manifold is plastic (?) and I suspect they damaged something while working on the car. When I said I would take the car for an independent inspection they immediately offered to contact BMW UK to see what they suggested. I'm preparing myself for the continued "not out fault" proclamation and will collect it and take it elsewhere for inspection and repair if necessary.

Would welcome any thoughts or advice.

	Thanks

Hi everyone, newbie to the forum. Apology's before I ask for some advice. This has probably been discussed on here 100's of times already. I have just bought a 2012, 3 series, 3.0d, 254 bhp rear wheel drive. I'm looking to take off all the run flat tyres and change them for normal ones. Wheel size, rear 255, 45, 17, 98 W. Front's 225, 50, 17, 94 W. Looking at all season ones if poss. Anyone had any experience of this. Any recommendations will be most welcome.

Quick introduction i am a owner of a paperweight 2011 320i Msport (waiting courts blablabla boring looks like il walk out of court with a car bent as a banana and a blow big end bearings,

I've just picked up a 116i as my other car starting with a V has broken down and saw this 116i 2005 plate on the old marketplace for £1100 diff is noisy a few other jobs needed on it but has 98k on and got it for £850 drives fine apart from diff and typical rotton subframe and a cat (that I need to buy both knackered) but have a donor car to use for parts,

I've been looking about and seen there is a 116 trophy series started and it's got me thinking haha BUT for now just want to use this 116i to get about then when my other car V comes back play time,

As I'm typing may I ask where is the best place to get bits apart from Ebay stuff like exhaust bucket seats and/or anything els to get me ready for track at a later date?

Also is it best as the cat is gone to get a sports cat or go standard?
