  2. Hi guys here's the latest. I drove to Glasgow and back today. Around 40 miles of dual carriageway each way and kept the revs between 2500 and 3000 approx. I kept it in fourth gear as much as possible. I also kept an eye on the temp which hovered between 68 and 74 degrees each way. My son in law put his Carly on it while I was there and cleared the EGM light and the DPF fault. the DPF returned on the way home but not the EGM. When I purchased this car 7 years ago it had the DPF light on and it turned out the problem was solved by replacing a faulty thermostat which was preventing the engine regenerating due to low running temperature. I think it warrants investigation as it cured the problem then. Any other thoughts? thanks Paneuro.

  4. Recently acquired a 2.2ltr 2005 Z4 at a price which I could not resist if though it had little or no drive through the transmission. Diagnosed a fluid leak so off came the sump, changed the fluid filter, fitted a new gasket and a new transmission seal to the output shaft put it back in only to find a pool of fluid on the garage floor the next day. My only thoughts now are that the fluid pump may be leaking so I should change the gasket on this as well? Anyone else encountered this problem before? I welcome any advice/suggestions as to how to fix this issue.
  5. Hi everyone, I’ve noticed an oil leak coming from the turbine outlet flange area on my BMW 320d xDrive G21 (2019, B47 engine). The oil seems to be coming from the joint between the turbocharger and the downpipe. Has anyone had a similar experience? Any help or experience with a similar issue would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  7. Thanks guys, I'm going to give it the beans a bit tomorrow and see how that goes. I'm trying to get into the secret menu just to get an idea if it does a regeneration while I'm driving it hard. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks Paneuro.

  9. Hi there just thought I would give you an update regarding my ecu. I sent it to ecutesting as recommended unfortunately they couldn't do anything with it as they said that that they didn't have equipement or tech old enough to test it with lol. They were very apologetic and sent it back to me. Additionally they didn't know of anywhere else I could send it to for testing but of the checks they did do they didn't find anything untoward. So it looks like I will have to find somewhere else or risk buying a second part either way a little bit frustrating.
  10. Morning Vionea Welcome to the Forum Not sure if you want to replace what you have or make your own ?? Brand new from BMW in primer these only cost around £10 each or if you get the part number from www.realoem.com then search the Internet I dare say there are more than a few out there Good Luck Dave
  11. Does anybody, by any chance, have a 3D primt template for the fog lights grilles? Or know where to find one?
  12. Does anybody, by any chance, have or knows where I can find a 3D print template for the grilles for the foglights?
  13. Morning Alan Welcome to the Forum I find it hard to believe that a Main Dealer responded in that way, the car records ALL faults and their equipment should show it as a fault Present or fault Not Present? You don't want to compromise your Warranty however you could try a different Main Dealer. I would write to the Dealer MD a copy to the service manager and BMW UK Customer Service stating the facts of their investigation and efforts to fix it that have failed, point out that the car in it's current state is "unsuitable for purpose" and ask for a detailed course of action and time scale to resolve the issue. Good Luck Dave
  14. On my 2024 540i video screen I was getting the following message every few days: " Battery Management. Start Engine. Malfunction shutting down the vehicle electronics when vehicle is stationary" The service department kept the vehicle for 2 days but could not diagnose or reproduce the problem. After a software update, the problem disappeared. Now it is back. I cannot discern any pattern as to when it occurs. Any ideas? Should Service Department be able to diagnose without reproducing the message? Could there be some harm being done to my vehicle? Thanks
  15. Mileage is154k and MoT to Aug 2nd 26. Sorry for earlier mistakes.
  16. Will do tomorrow afternoon Steve.
  17. motorway for 30 mins, 3rd gear... get the revs up and sit there with the revs up higher 3k or so. This will regen and blow out all crud. When driving as normal, get the revs up, use up the gears before changing, dont change gears too early. Not only good for the DPF but good for your flywheel if its a manual. Diesels need to be driven hard sometimes.
  18. @Mark Fielding could you add some photos please
  19. @Mick W pics are needed for this post please
  20. I have a silver 2000 3 series for sale. Generally very good order but needs new sills and rear subframe. MoT to next May. 135k miles. 2 owners. Same family. Serviced from new. Offers. Shipley, West Yorkshire.
  21. Hi Hamid Welcome to the Forum First check the engine bay side there is a distribution valve and Auxiliary water pump make sure it's working. Then inside the car if all fans and controls are working check the Final Stage Resistor (used to be a common fail on E53 X5's) Have a look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it should bring up your model, then check the Heater section you should find the FSR (Final Stage Resistor) in the blower motor. You will now have all the part numbers you need to find a replacement at a sensible price. The FSR on X5 E53 models was a fiddle to change but not beyond anyone with a bit of sense Dave
  22. Hi everyone, I have a 2007 BMW X3 and the heater fan works fine. The upper vents (the top near the windshield) blow nice hot air, but the front and footwell vents only blow cold air. I already did air bleeding, and the coolant system seems to be working well — heat is good in top vent parts, but the heater only gets hot from the top vents. I tought it may fault of air distributor damper but the cooler works perfectly in 3 vents that means the door of air distributir works Has anyone experienced this before or know what could cause it? Thanks in advance!
  23. I have a 2001 Black Z3 roadster 3.00 with 35k on the clock and want to get a fair price where is the best place to sell it.
  24. Morning Andrew Someone with the software can trigger a Regen if your isn't doing it it's self. For the regen cycle to trigger you need at least a half hour forty minutes with revs at 2500 or above you also need all the Glo plugs working as BMW use them to boost cylinder temps. Now the actual DPF, depending on DPF age and the type of journeys undertaken we are back to Software to measure the ASH content % as this is the bit that tells the car to show the warning and eventually go into limp mode. Solutions (1) take it for a good trash (Italian Tune Up) see if that works (2) Software there are several Diagnostic systems now capable but as I have INPA/ISTA that is my weapon of choice (3) Last is the Garage many will recommend NEW DPF ££ some will recommend DPF cleaning ££ (friend of our sons had this done seems to work) Both the last options will need software capable of resetting all the DPF adaptions to factory settings Dave
  25. Hi, I have a warning on my dash that the DPF unit needs attention. I assume this means it requires regeneration. Any pointers on best type of additive fluid to use for this and what is the most successful procedure, Thanks Paneuro.

  27. Going by that really enticing and highly detailed description, colour me not very interested. If you want to sell it as Reacher would say "details matter!"
  28. Morning all, I'm a new member joining the group because I have read the issues in this thread and am also experiencing the same. Mine is. 220d 2 series active tourer from 2016. I also have play in the drive shaft on the near side and some oil around where the drive come out of the gear box. Mine is the aisin 8 speed. Has anyone collectively contacted BMW regarding this matter. I've heard BMW recalled this gearbox in New Zealand, so there is a precedent.
  29. Thanx for your response Dave I will follow up on your suggestions. Cheers.
