  2. Hi Jock Welcome to the Forum When were the Diffs and Transfer box serviced ? Dave
  3. Hi Steve Welcome to the Forum Not good what size wheels are you running and is the cracking spokes or rim ? Your not alone with pot holed roads Sunny Sussex isn't any better Maybe as suggested a set of 19" wheels with deeper sidewall tyres may give a bit of cushioning Dave

  5. being a dorset chap myself, i can say the roads are dreadful. Especially in Bournemouth!!! Got a 4x4 to handle it with and will install big spotlights so i can see in the very poorly lit roads. Is it me, or these new LED street lights along with high intensity car lights just really hard to drive at night? Steve, maybe look at winter wheels! then they can get mucky, bashed and keep the summer ones for cruising. :)
  6. Yes it's Xdrive. No... it purrs like a kitten when stationery.

  9. I have had three alloys crack and have been told by BMW it’s the British Roads. No obvious incidents. Although, I do live in rural Dorset. It appears to be a mix of the low profile tyres, roads, some old man driving and not the greatest alloys. Has anyone else had a similar experience and is it worth changing the alloys and tyre profiles? Thanks, Steve.

  17. Hi Kumar Welcome to the Forum I am assuming you mean the Lamp (Bulb) first you need to establish if your Lighting is Halogen bulbs, HID/Xenon or LED all were available for your model year. Take a look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box and it will bring up your Model then search Lights I know from experience that some models need wheel arch liners removing to access lamp changes which would mean a hefty labour charge from a Dealer (most in my area are £200+ an hour) then the cost of the actual lamp Osram or Philips HID D1 lamps can be brought for around £60 (I would expect a Dealer to double that) so cost of a lamp change at a dealer I guess at £300 to £500 + If they are LED I have never changed one but would guess at similar prices It isn't difficult just fiddly so I would look for online videos as guidance and DIY or try your local friendly Independent Garage Hope this Helps Dave

  19. Hi, I need to replace Driver-side headlight (not the module but actual headlight ) on my 2015 BMW X3 , seems it costs a fortune at authorised service centre, just wondering if there is any alternative solution to get it done at a reasonable cost ? Thanks, AK

  22. My Fold 7 usually connects straight away when I get in, however every now and then I have to select android auto on the idrive to get it to connect. It may do this because I open the car to put dog in then go back in house with phone in pocket and it drops connection, yet other times I do it and it re-connects straight away. Does your work phone have a higher profile order than the personal one? With regards to digital key, do you need/have BMW digital key set up card? Video here Found this: Creating Driver Profile A driver profile is created or via iDrive: 1. "CAR". 2. "Driver profiles". 3. Move the Controller to the right. As an alternative for Steps 1 to 3, the profile image can be tapped in the top status bar. 4. "Add driver profile". ConnectedDrive countries: An existing ConnectedDrive account must be assigned to a driver profile. If a ConnectedDrive account has not yet been created, the account can be created via a smartphone. A QR code will be displayed on the Control Display for this purpose. The creation of the driver profile can continue with the access data of the created ConnectedDrive account. Selecting recognition The settings for the recognition are entered via iDrive: 1. "CAR" 2. "Driver profiles" 3. Move the Controller to the right. As an alternative for Steps 1 to 3, the profile image can be tapped in the top status bar. 4. "Driver recognition" 5. Select the desired setting: "with vehicle key". The vehicle key that is recognized in the car's interior is assigned to the driver profile. If multiple vehicle keys are detected, the unintended vehicle keys must be removed from the car's interior. "With Digital Key". The digital key that is recognized in the car's interior is assigned to the driver profile. If multiple digital keys are detected, the unintended digital keys must be removed from the car's interior. 6. "Activate linkage" As soon as the vehicle detects the vehicle key or the digital key, the corresponding driver profile will be activated. If the vehicle key or the smartphone with the digital key is not carried with you or the vehicle key or digital key is not recognized, the driver profile can only be selected on the Welcome screen when a PIN has been set up. Setting up a PIN A driver profile with recognition cannot be activated without vehicle key and without digital key. In this case, a PIN can be set up to activate the driver profile.

  29. HI, I clean, colour and proof the soft top once per year but have recently noticed some green spots appearing on it. Is there anything that is especially effective at lifting these out. Any advice gratefully received.

  31. Morning Malcolm Welcome to the Forum First check is does your car have VDC suspension ? Next check what was its year of manufacture to check model E70 F15 or F85 ? All 3 are possible for a 2014 registered car. If E70 the top mount has for want of a better description a couple of spongy washer like pads, they just fail and you get a knock sometimes when turning easy check under the centre nut of the top mount there is a big washer under that is the sponge/fibre pad easy to see and not hard to change. F15 and F85 don't have them but worth checking the top mount anyway If it's a rotating knock also worth checking the front drive shaft Good Luck tasty motor by the way Dave
  32. Morning John Welcome to the Forum Did a few of these on 2000 to 2005 V8's (including my own 4.6is) but not seen one for a long time from memory the only successful fix was to replace the sealing rings and in one case the aluminium pipe work as it had been damaged previously. I have not heard of a "quick fix" I am afraid I would start with a search of realoem and study the drawings carefully, also if you can get access to ISTA or INPA check out the WIS (Workshop Information System) Good Luck Dave

  34. I have a 2009 650i that I just got and it has a coolant leak on the coolant transfer pipe that runs through the valley of the engine basically from the front side to the back and I've been looking at fixing it and at first it looked like I was going to have to remove the intake manifold and timing cover and a whole bunch of other stuff but after some research there's also a collapsible pipe and this other kit that you put an aluminum pipe through it or something I'm just wondering if anyone else has run across this problem I hear it's pretty common and if so is there any easier way to fix that or anything that you guys might be able to tell me. Thank you.

  37. Knocking sound from front left side on my BMW X5 M50d first thought it might be a bush or bearing problem but had all replaced including bottom and top arms plus drive shaft but it's still there I think now it's a drive shaft problem because in slow traffic I get a clunking sound as if something is loose.

  39. Hi Jock. Is the car 4 wheel drive? 4x4 centre bearing? that would be my first guess. does it make the noise when stationary?
  40. Hi folks Got a 2014 X3 30D with 81000 on the clock. It has recently developed a droning noise most audible when I take my foot off the accelerator. It's not wildly loud. There's no grinding sound or anything like that. I've had the bearings checked on all wheels and they are fine. Any ideas please ?
  41. Morning James Use a BMW Vin decoder to get the original build sheet to see what your model was ordered with is a starting point Dave
  42. Does any one know if the lighting is already installed? But not active? Or are the connections there but just no light? If so or not does anyone know anyone in Hampshire who would be able to help me have the job done? In advance Thank you
