  2. Thanks for your reply Dave, interesting that your friend went for covers from the car manufacturer, though they will have been pricey, I'll look into that. And I need to buy car mats so purchasing rubber one's is a good call, the interior is a beige/sand colour fabric with matching carpet so not the easiest to keep clean and she's been kept well by the guy I'm buying from (collecting today)
  3. 1999 started following Car seat covers??
  4. Morning Mike Welcome to the Forum Never used them personally but I do have a friend who uses them in his Range Rover Sport as the seats are almost white leather, his are from Range Rover fit really well but still look like seat covers they do keep the seats clean though. I suppose it depends whether you want them to be almost permanent and look OEM ? My interior is Black leather dark grey mats with rubber over mats as a hobby is shooting dogs (in the boot) and muddy boots are in and out of the car a lot. The inside still cleans up really well (Leather Guys products) So I guess not much help I am afraid good luck with the hunt Dave
  5. Morning Raymond Welcome to the Forum If your topping up that much first I hope it's not with tap water as quickly you will have no anti Freeze or corrosion protection. If your losing it and can't see anything obvious above, have you taken off the engine covers and checked? Take a look under the car to look for signs (puddles on the floor) Is the car smoking (white Vapour). There will either be a leak at a hose joint, header tank if it is an internal engine issue (white Vapour) obviously not good news. Last feel the carpets inside in case it is an internal heater matrix issue Good Luck Dave

  8. Hi, does anyone have experience with car seat protectors for their 3 series? There are soooo many options/businesses online and many have bad reviews, any thoughts are welcome 👍

  14. You can check the Voltage at the charge points under the bonnet with a Voltmeter 12.5v is a Good Battery any thing close to 12v would indicate discharged battery below 12v would indicate a dead or dying battery. Hope it is a simple fix Dave
  15. It would be nice if it was running to check voltage and output
  16. Morning Chris Could be a number of issues, I would start with the Battery, is it fully charged and holding it ? A diagnostic will show up stored Fault Codes but if the underlying cause is low Battery Voltage many could be caused by low voltage. Test voltage at the charging point under the bonnet anything below 12.5v is low below 12v I would suspect the battery. Engine running you should see 14 + v that should confirm the Alternator and charging circuit. Dave
  17. Yes Dave I’m told I have to get the premium bit but I emailed back and said got it. guess what …..no reply as of yet.

  19. Hi everyone 2012 F12 640D I unlocked the car to use, engine would not crank and I get a message saying do not switch off engine ignition fault the engine will not crank to start any ideas anyone please I will attempt to read codes in the morning
  20. Hi Arfan If there are no drive train Faults recorded it is very likely just the gearbox being sluggish when cold Dave
  21. Hi Paul So I would guess it is all there, I hope this isn't like VW with the ID3 where you have to pay a subscription to keep things like Heated Seats or Heated Steering wheels working !! Keep us up to speed please Dave
  22. Thank you Dave, I have booked in for a diagnostics in couple of weeks time, will see if there is any thing shown linked to gearbox 👍

  24. BMW have said I need to subscribe to digital premium apparently which I have free until February 🙈🙈
  25. Afternoon Arfan The gearbox should be serviced between 60k to 100k kilometers according to ZF who make the box. It may be that as your box has not been serviced that when the Gearbox is cold it is sluggish on down changes (25mph would be 1st/2nd gear territory) in higher gears engine revs would hardly register A diagnostic scan will tell if there are any Fault Codes stored for the gearbox, peace of mind Dave
  26. Hi Paul First check yourself using a BMW Vin decoder (if you haven't already) I work on the old "in God we Trust everyone else we check on principle 😅 There are LED light sources in each door light is fed to the door handle by a Fibre Optic cable, when the car is unlocked the area below the handle is illuminated they call them Welcome lights. Inside the car there are Ambient door lights above the door pockets and in some cases speaker lights If your car was built without them you will probably find a Dealer sucking their teeth and explaining what a difficult job it is £££££ If they are important to you I would find a good BMW Specialist (there is a Register) and talk to them The real question would be if the wiring/power source is there if it is then it should be a fairly straight forward retro fit and coding process Dave
  27. Good afternoon When the engine revs the rev counter goes up as normal. Car has covered 92k miles. Gearbox has not been serviced I did ask my BMW specialist, who is brilliant, he said gearbox oil lasts lifetime of the car. The car revs only come down for the first 4 to 5 mins of driving in cold. No error messages and car drives fine. Once warm revVID_20251203_132645.mp4s hold as they should. Would diagnostics probably show anything or anything linked to gearbox? Thanks

  29. Can anyone explain to me what they are talking about when saying about welcome lighting and ambient please
  30. Just had a reply from BMW uk Hello Paul Thanks for contacting the BMW Customer Information Team regarding the lights on the door handles and glovebox. I understand how frustrating this is. I’ve checked your vehicle’s factory specification against the VIN you provided. The exterior door handle lighting and glovebox illumination are not part of the standard equipment on your M135 (F70) build. The illuminated door handles only operate when the car is ordered with the Welcome Light/Ambient Lighting package, which was not specified on your vehicle. Likewise, BMW no longer fits glovebox lights as standard on this model. If you would like further confirmation or to discuss retrofit options, we recommend contacting your BMW Centre directly. You can find the nearest BMW Centre here. In the meantime, if there's anything else I can do for you, please let me know. 31. Morning Arfan Welcome to the Forum Some questions, 1. if you rev the engine what happens ? 2. how many miles has the car covered ? 3. when was the gearbox serviced ? It could be that the box is holding a higher gear so a 25mph is showing idle speed as the box warms up it changes. A Diagnostic scan would help understand what's happening Dave
  32. Morning Paul If you know someone who has INPA/ISTA just plug in and the program will let you know what equipment the car was built with (list and codes) your dealer could do it but it sounds like yours falls into the "can't be bothered to help a customer" category You could also use a BMW Vin Decoder several online to pull up the same information I must say I thought pretty much all top of the range Beemers had them so worth a search Dave
  33. Hi, I am new here and Iwas wondering if anyone can help please.. I have a 2009 bmw 730d auto on 92k miles. Just noticed when the car is driven on a cold start, for the first 5 minutes or so when accelerating the rev gauge goes up as it should, and the auto box changes gears as normal. However, when I take foot off the accelerator the rev gauge comes fully down as though the car is stationary in idle. After 5 minutes driving the rev gauge remains higher as it should going through the auto gears. When the rev gauge comes down, the car still drives fine, doesn't stall, no error messages. Is it normal for rev gauge to come down to idle, when you take foot off accelerator, for the first 5 minutes of driving in cold. When the car is warm the rev gauge stays where is should higher than idle. You can see from screenshot I am nearly doing 25 mph, my foot is off accelerator, the rev gauge is on idle (under 1) when in fact when the car is warm and driving at 25mpg the rev gauge is at 1 and half. Many thanks

  35. Hi Dave. I’ve been on to my dealer and they can’t confirm if they do or don’t have them. I’ve seen plenty with them with a lower spec than mine so I’m disappointed really. No glovebox light either. £50k and only half the bits are there.
  36. Hi Paul Welcome to the Forum As your car is basically new have you had a conversation with your BMW Dealer ? Normally the door lights are as tough as old boots, my X5 2009 vintage has them and they all still work (that's jinxed them) Dave
