  2. Hi, it could be a wheel bearing or the wheel arch lining could have come off.. a suspension or broken spring issue would make a banging noise when the steering wheel is moved. Does it only make the noise when the car is moving?
  3. Do I have this listed in the wrong spot?

  6. Hi,wife's 128ti has just started making a rumbling/grating sound when turning right at slow speed out of the drive. Local BMW garage cant look at it until next week so sitting in the drive as she's too frightened to use it. Female receptionist at garage said It sounds like a suspension arm!!! Anyone come acrossa problem like this or similar ? Thanks.

  9. I will do an update if I find anything
  10. Thanks Dave I will recheck my realoem and the classics section just in case I missed something
  11. I agree with Dave, back in the day most alarms were retrofit and Hella being an independent company supplying electrical relays and associated switches to fit to Baur and other styling houses of the era. I would be tempted to track the wires individually to see where they go to - I would imagine one or two would go to the starter motor and ignition switch / coil, etc Let us know how you get on with it all

  13. Morning Paul Wow that stirs the old grey matter I take it your familiar with www.realoem.com check the Classic section or BMW have a Classic section try their Customer services (I am told they can be slow) If I recall alarms were not a standard fitting back then so you may find Baur fitted it when they retrimmed the car Maybe a question to Baur in Stuttgart I am sure they will have an Archive Good Luck Dave

  16. Ok thankyou for your advice, its much appreciated.
  17. Does anyone have one of these Hella 5aa 003 525-00 Alarms fitted to their car or know anything about how they work? I have looked on Wiki and checked a couple of manuals but I cannot find any information on them or what they do? If anyone has one and any advice on how to check it I would be most grateful

  19. Hi John Considering the low temperatures over the last couple of days condensation vapour is normal, also as it clears after a few minutes driving and coolant levels are stable it would indicate no leaks. You need some warm weather to see if with warmer temps it should almost disappear Good Luck Dave
  20. Sorry yes its the E84 model
  21. Hi, yes thats correct. On the invoice it states the part was a egr valve. The smoke clears after around 5 minutes driving, it seems to happen after ive drivin 20 mile to work then when i leave work 9 hours laters it smokes. The coolant level has not dropped which i checked this morning.
  22. Morning John OK so if I understand the situation the car was purchased from a Car Dealer (Non BMW) you had a fault which you reported to the supplying dealer which they couldn't identify/fix. They sent the car to a BMW Specialist who diagnosed an EGR fault, the car was returned to the supplying dealer who then replaced the EGR or was it the EGR cooler they are separate parts ? So first question are you still seeing white smoke/mist from the exhaust does it clear or is it constant ? Next question have you checked the coolant level again ? Last question I have assumed your car is an E84 model with the N47N engine (1.8 or 2.0d) Dave

  24. Thanx, that's funny but no it's factory built maybe not a BMW factory. Definitely not a one off ,it's all steel unibody.
  25. …. My bad…. It was a Sindy , not Barbie….
  26. Hello! This is a Temu eagle rv… Seriously, it’s a kit car of some sort. The rear lights look like the e10 2002 and possibly the front lights and grille. It looks like a 2002 had an affair with a Barbie caravan and this is the illegitimate offspring
  27. Hi, sorry for just getting back too you, car dealership said they sent car to a bmw specialist who found fault and then dealerships mechanic replaced EGR cooler. I had to top up coolant when first received car back 6 days ago but it seems to have stayed at same level.

  30. Morning Ste You could try using one of the BMW Vin Decoder sites that would give the same information Or try an internet search for BMW Specialists (there is a register ) you should be able to find one or two near by one of them may be helpful and certainly cheaper than BMW Good Luck Dave
  31. Morning Dave Welcome to the Forum Has it been removed or moved and taped up somewhere ? I ask because one of our sons friends has a 1 series drift car when he brought it no OBD socket as the roll cage was there. We were going through the same thought process when he found it taped up by the steering column. You need to download a wiring diagram or if you can get access to INPA/ISTA you will find them included in WIS (Workshop Information Systems) Tino on here has gone through a similar issue he may be of some help Dave

  34. I have a 2002 BMW 325i that I use for track days. I want to do a scan on it but the OBD connection has been removed at some time before I bought it. Does anyone know the wiring for a replacement OBD connection and which wire on the ECU it needs connecting into? Cheers

  37. Hi Andrew Neighbour just brought a Foxwell NT501 Elite from Ebay £120 (I think) it is DPF capable among lots of other stuff there is also iCarsoft V2 for about the same price I know that is capable of regen activation I also believe you can register a new/other DPF with it, Best is BMW INPA/ISTA but that needs to be loaded on to a Laptop but is definitely the best I have read 2 instances recently where the Ash content is high and the (BMW set a % limit) that also could be the issue maybe a chemical clean and reset will do the trick Good Luck Dave

  39. Hi guys, I fitted a new air intake sensor and it has made no difference, the EML is still on. Before anybody says, I have turned it of with a cheap scanner but it still throws up the same code. Can anybody suggest a reasonably priced scanner I could buy £100 . 00 that would be able to force a regen? I drove around 350 miles at the weekend trying hard to keep the revs around 2500/3000 without success, the DPF is still telling me to take it to BMW. It is not in limp mode so it can't be that bad but it annoys me. thanks Paneuro.
