Run Flats Or Not

Hi all, have heard lots of horror stories about the dreaded three lights on the dash caused by the actuator in Transfer case or Transfer box failure on the US sites but seems quiet this side of the water, BM insist on correct tyre and brand on all axles and blame drivers of fitting wrong tyres for the faults other side of the water, The X3 has I'm told run flats what make your teeth chatter, when two tyres need replacing I've heard some owners are replacing all 4 with normal side wall tyres as its cheaper for 4 than 2 run flats and its a smoother ride and carrying a tin of tyre fix. Has anyone done this and had a problem?????? I'm not wanting to drive the X3 like a sports car but don't want to create problem either

Regards
